Minister of Entrepreneurship and Information Technology Mr Rene Tammist concluded MoUs for cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence and certified trust services with United Arab Emirates’ Minister for Artificial Inteligence HE Omar Bin Sultan al Olama during a recent visit to Dubai. “UAE has a thriving emerging technology sector just like Estonia and artificial intelligence is a key area for creating better services in the future, be it personalised healthcare, efficient and autonomous logistics and public transport solutions or smart utility services,” explained minister Tammist. According to the MoU, Estonia and UAE will establish a workgroup focused on AI to foster the development of startups in this field and to provide easier access to markets, to conduct joint research and experimental projects for using AI in both public and private sectors. “The second MoU on digital trust services will practically open doors for Estonian companies to enter the UAE market, particularly in the public sector, as Guardtime has already successfully demonstrated,” said the minister. The MoU will aim to provide the solutions and expertise of Estonian companies to securely guarantee the integrity of data and provide digital identity services by using new technologies such as blockchain. Prime Minister Jüri Ratas and Minister Rene Tammist attended the World Government Summit in Dubai together with representatives from Enterprise Estonia and the Estonian business community. Prime Minister Ratas held a keynote speech at the WGS and Minister Tammist introduced the latest developments and solutions of e-Estonia at a discussion panel dedicated to Estonia. Estonia will also be participating at the upcoming Expo 2020 World Fair.
